Everything You Need To Know About Microneedling

Our skin clinic here in Manchester can help improve your appearance, as well as your confidence. While we specialise in a number of aesthetic treatments, today, we’re focusing on microneedling. Here, we’ll answer some of the most common questions our clients ask here in Manchester, which can help give you peace of mind about whether microneedling is right for you.

What is microneedling?

It’s a skin resurfacing treatment that creates tiny ‘injuries’ in the skin to boost the healing process and encourage new collagen production (the protein responsible for smooth, supple skin).

What can microneedling treat?

It’s ideal for a range of skin concerns, ranging from signs of ageing such as lines and wrinkles, to improving acne scarring and stretch marks, to controlling pigmentation concerns. It’s most commonly used as a rejuvenation treatment, helping to revive dull and tired skin.

How does treatment work?

After a skin consultation, where we ensure treatment is safe and appropriate for you, we’ll arrange your treatment. We use the SkinPen device, one of the leading technologies in microneedling, to deliver truly exceptional results. Treatment takes around 1 hour on average, with 3 separate sessions usually recommended, and will be delivered under local anaesthetic for optimum comfort.

Where can treatment be carried out?

SkinPen microneedling can be carried out on the face and neck, and other areas of the body. It all depends on what you’re looking to treat. Rest assured that wherever you choose to have microneedling, SkinPen is an FDA-approved, rigorously-tested treatment that’s entirely safe.

What about results?

Expect to see results in a week or so, which can continue to develop as skin renews. Results can last up to 1 year. Aside from some mild sunburn-type symptoms, where skin may look and feel red and tight, you shouldn’t experience much in the way of downtime from microneedling.

What else do you recommend?

For lines and wrinkles, we might recommend dermal fillers or anti-wrinkle injections, depending on what’s caused them and where they appear. For other rejuvenating treatments, we may suggest skin peels. And, we also offer pigmentation removal if you’re concerned about uneven skin tone. During your microneedling consultation, we’ll get to the bottom of your concerns, assess your skin and guide you on appropriate recommendations so you can make the best choice for you.
